NYPD - Not!
In the local Hingham paper
there is a police and fire log: it reports every call made to the police station.
It’s a bit of an invasion of privacy, but being nosy we read it anyway.
Here are some typical excerpts. It’ll give you an idea of the major crimes over here! (and the stupidity of some American’s):
10.44am Resident complaining of racoon on railroad tracks.
(SD note: the train tracks haven’t been used here for 40 years!)
11.42 am Resident requests officer: man cutting down trees.
(Better call the special branch)
3.44 pm Male in MV (motor vehicle) cruising the neighbourhood.
4 pm Bright and sunny. 80 degrees.
5.13 Main street. Complaint about youth skateboarding in the square.
7.46 am Cellphone caller report large black dog (bear?) walking.
11.42 pm Neighbour’s vehicle drove over lawn.
3.24 pm Main Street, Greenhouse, larceny of hanging plants
9.12 pm Caller reports loud music in conservation park area.
8 am Hot, real hot.
9.07 am Old Derby Street. People using the dumpster.
11.23 am Lincoln Street. Cars parked everywhere.
(Jaine’s cracking up ..)
3.27 pm 911 call. Seems it is a fax machine.
(My favourite – why even tell us)
3.34 pm. Medical, child’s finger caught in sprinkler head.
4. pm Hazy, hot and humid, 96 degrees
4.05 pm Grove Avenue. Assist male up steep stairs.
5.51 pm. Thompson Avenue. Caller report 4
vehicles parked at end of street.
10.09 pm Foley Road. Motion light went on, strange bicycle next door.
(SD Probably an alien disguised as a bicycle..)
2.13 am Whiting Street. Resident reports white truck in parking lot.
(SD And???)
5.52 am Fotler Road. Caller reports female carrying backpack and acting weird.
(SD That’ll be Jaine)
7.09 Bradley Rd. Caller reports coyote, appears sick.
7.26 am Sandbourne Rd. Caller found a wallet in a car.
(SD I once found a great car stereo in someone’s car too!)
11.44 am East Gate Lane. Caller requests check of street parking on BOTH sides.
3.44 pm Rhodes Place. Request for person to call mother in California.
(SD ????)
3.46 pm Otis Street. Report of a large group of kids hanging around.
(SD Probably on the way home from school?)
4 pm Sunny. 93 degrees.
6.04 pm Pleasant Street. Person reports strange acting coyote in yard.
(SD Probably tied to an ACME rocket chasing a road runner)
7.53 pm Fort Hill St. Male requests police, group training dogs in park.
(SD Quick officer, its Barbara Woodhouse!)
9.20 pm Otis Street. Caller reports dog locked owner out of motor vehicle.
2.49 am Lincoln Street. Police reports mustang hit kerbing and fled.
(SD I’m glad I don’t get reported every time I touch the kerb!)
10.56 am Flintlock Cres. Caller would like a shotgun removed.
(SD I’d love to know from where!)
1.14 pm Marion Street. Caller reports cars
parked on both sides of the street.
(SD Come and visit Brighton some day..)
7.26 pm Main Street. Woman flags officer, states a pit bull followed her.
8.02 pm Simple assault
(SD Ah, a real crime! Well nearly.)
8.38 pm Pheasant Road. Reports dog on porch was in house.
7.26 am Plymouth River Rd. Caller requests car to pickup bullets found in attic.
8.48 pm 911 Caller reports male knocking on doors.
(SD Good way to stop Jehovaha’s Witnesses I suppose)
8.51 am Pond St. Caller reports car parked on the wrong side of the street.
12.41 Station St. Playing ball in parking lot.
4 pm Nice clear day.
7.41 pm Martin’s Lane. Parking complaint. Cars on street.
7.14 am Wanders Drive. Caller reports car
drove across his lawn overnight.
(SD No wonder seeing you keep complaining if they’re on the street!)
3.01 am Huntley Rd. Someone knocking on door. Not there when answered.
5pm Pleasant St. Report of lawn damage at the high school.
8 am Sunny.
4.52 pm Central St. Dog on front porch.
9.44 am Howland Lane. Resident requests officer about a racoon in yard.

11.01 am Rockland St. Vandalism, rock with house number rolled over.
11.05 am. Gardner St. Resident reports cigarette butts in her driveway.
